Report from Elding: Like the previous tours, also this time we were greeted with sunshine and cloudless skies. The waves were still a bit difficult for spotting with many white caps, but at least they did not affect our passengers much. The first 2 hours of our tour we encountered 3 different minke whales, often alongside some dispersed feeding birds. However, all three of them proved to be more focused on getting food rather than allowing us to stay with them for more than one or two surfaces. But even with these difficult sightings, the crew as well as our passengers remained optimistic and stubborn to find a cetacean that was more in the mood for whale watching. Despite this, our search did not result in further encounters and as we truly believe we can show our passengers longer lasting encounters as we had in our earlier afternoon tour, we gave out complimentary return tickets.

Report from Elding: If even possible, the sky was even more blue today than this morning. Waves had a few more white caps, making the spotting more difficult, but with our years of experience we were successful non the less. We had our first sighting after about 30 minutes, spotting 2 white-beaked dolphins traveling very slowly towards the Whalefjord. While they travelled very slowly, it was still a bit tricky to see them, as their direction was right into the sun. Still we stayed for around a quarter hour before we decided to keep on searching the bay. No more then 10 minutes later we were greeted by not one, but 2 feeding minke whales. One was around 6 meters while the second, which came incredibly close to our bow on more than one occasion, reached nearly 8 meters!! This great and long lasting encounter alongside 3 hours of super sunshine made it a mood raising tour for all of us and no one left our boat without a smile on the face.

Report from Elding: Bright skies and flat seas provided the perfect conditions to be out at sea. “Minke whale” were definitely the watchwords during this tour. Through the course of our adventure we were able to observe 4 minke whales on separate sightings. It proved to be quite tricky to keep tracking them, as they were being quite illusive. However, our patience and effort did pay off, as we were able to see the animals quite well and at some point very close to our vessel.
