Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. 

Report from Eldey: This morning was INCREDIBLE. We saw at least 100-150 white-beaked dolphins and our friend Mariupol the humpback whale that we saw a lot of last year and this month. They were playing together, the humpback rolling around and the dolphins were jumping all the around and they were doing this for a long time. The dolphins alone was also incredible to watch. SO so so many of them, everywhere; feeding, travelling, socialising and even mating! All of this happening just 15-20 minutes from the harbour right next to our boat. At one point we even saw a white-beaked dolphin and a harbour porpoise travelling together which was as well a very special thing to see as it was the only harbour porpoise seen throughout the entire tour. It was so strange that at first we thought it was a very small baby dolphin but a closer look we could confirm it was a porpoise. I was just amazing the entire time. What an amazing experience.

Report from Eldey: The wind was even getting stronger and the sea more rocky. When we got to the area where we had the sightings on the morning tour. There were still a lot of birds in the area but not as many as on the morning. After about 20 minutes 2 small pods of harbour porpoises were spotted, the first one of about 3 individuals and the second one of about 4. This normally elusive species were giving us a beautiful show and eventually coming up really close to the boat. However, the harbour porpoises and the birds were the only wildlife keeping us company during the tour today. We were hoping to find some white-beaked dolphins or the humpback whale that were spotted in the morning but they we not around this afternoon. As always in these cases, we gave out complimentary tickets for another free tour with us within the next two years, and hopefully most of our passengers have time to give it another try!
