Tour at 17:00

The sea conditions were perfect but unfortunately the bay was not. We did see great Harbour Porpoises and White-beaked Dolphins but no luck with the Minke Whales :(.

Tour at 13:00

Again an amazing tour!! We started out with a pod of Harbour porpoises which were swimming around, just 200 metres outside the old harbour of Reykjavík! Incredible! After watching them surface and listening for awhile to their squeaking little blows, we headed out and soon found our first Minke whale. At first we thought it was a juvenile animal because it was only around 6 metres long. At a closer look though, the whale researchers on board identified the animal: it was a Minke we had been seeing since 2009 called Bambi. Always good to see a familiar fin in the water. Soon after, more porpoises and 4 other Minkes materialized. Finally, also white-beaked dolphins came up but they were a bit more elusive. Nonetheless, we got some good looks at them. On the way home, a last large Minke, before we docked. FANTASTIC TOUR!!

Tour at 09:00

The wind from last night had calmed down this morning so the weather was quite pleasant and the surface quite flat, providing good viewing conditions. We were off to an excellent start with Harbour porpoises and two pods of white-beaked dolphins almost simultaneously crossing our path, not far from land. Both of them jumped and surfed the waves, so we spent some time admiring them and enjoying their good mood. After that we had to look for quite some time for the next cetacean but in the end found a really interactive and curious large Minke whale and observed it for a while until finally heading back with big smiles on our faces. With 3 out of 4 cetaceans sighted an AWESOME tour!
