Report from Eldey: Posters saying ROUGH SEAS were posted up in our ticket office windows to let our passengers know that that is what we were expecting. It was actually a pleasant  ride on the way out, sailing with the wind and swell on the way offshore. After 30 minutes we started to see big splashes in the distance and a couple of blows. Humpback Whale! We got so excited. We arrived and waited but unfortunetaly it wasn't seen again. A very grumpy humpie. We were 3 vessels out there looking for this humpback whale but it was sneaky and it was not seen again. It looked so productive with the birds, a nice variety and abundance. It was a while until we saw our next cetacean, a minke whale and 2-3 harbour porpoises at the same time. The minke whale came up many times but sometimes behind the waves which made it difficult to photograph. It was mainly when we turned the boat and when we headed back to land when we felt the real force of the Icelandic weather. Still it was nothing for our Icelandic vikings.
