Tour status: RUNNING

Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsulan: And yet another beautiful day at sea finds its end! The wind had slightly picked up when we started our tour with some bird watching. After some time we spotted some dolphins jumping but unfortunately upon coming closer they disappeared. Going on with bird watching, we saw some very active hunting northern gannets and it did not take us long until we spotted the first minke whale, followed right away from another one! The smaller one was even getting curious and lifted its head out of the water straight in front of us! Going on we encountered another 2 minke whales and as we slowly started running out of time, we decided to make another short round in the bay and found quite quickly some jumping white-beaked dolphins. As we approached them they turned around and came towards us putting up a real show: jumping, leaping, surfing waves, crossing several times under the boat... Just amazing seeing this animals naturally performing their tricks! What a lovely end to such a beautiful day out at sea.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The tour this afternoon started rather sunny, but the weather changed in between and we also got some rain during this tour. However, winds were not too strong and we only had a little bit of swell. Our first sighting on this tour was a pod of harbour porpoises, with at least 5 individuals. They surfaced repeatedly in front of the boat and we could follow them for a while. Shortly afterwards we found our first minke whale for this tour. This individual could be seen surfacing all around the boat for some time and even lunge feeding just next to us! Still, we decided to leave this minke, as more and more boats arrived and it got a bit crowded. We found 2 more minke whales, just a few moments later and enjoyed some more time with these incredible animals.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: Another true Icelandic experience should await us on this morning tour. We sailed out with slight wind from south but generally calm sea, changing throughout the tour from slight sunshine to rain which almost looked like snow at one point. After around 1 hour sailing we started to see a pod of white-beaked dolphins, probably 10 individuals. Unfortunately they were extremely elusive and we just spotted them for a few short times before they disappeared. But at the same time we started to see some really lovely minke whales, some of them coming in really close to the boat! Some stayed for a long time continuously surfacing around us, other being more elusive. All in all we were able to take some really beautiful pictures of them, even on our way back to the harbour, probably around 8 individuals in total. It was a fun and exciting morning out in the bay!
