Report from Eldey: Another very overcast day in Reykjavik but we had perfect visibility with the gray of the sky and water being a good contrast to the dark body colour of our commonly seen species of whales and dolphins. The sea conditions were also smooth, just some neglectable shallow swell. With no limitiations on where to go, our course was simply into the bay and out to the north. Along the way, we were surprised by a seal sticking it's head out of the water! Very cute and curious it looked at our boat shortly before dissappearing. Once further out, everything looked very promising with plenty of bird activity around indicating food in the water. At a point we were sure to have spotted a blow inbetween a flock of birds but despite waiting and circling the area with all eyes on the water, we could not confirm this. After that we started heading back towards Reykjavik, and even any cetacean were showing around by that moment we never lost hope, and that was rewarded. Last minute, really close to Reykjavik's harbour, a pod of around 10 white beaked dolphins came along our course and delighted everyone with close up sightings in which moments of travelling mixed with feeding behaviour, during which we could see them jumping and swimming around. Patience is sometimes rewarded when whale watching!
