Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00  and 14:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00, 14:00

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out onto a very sunny Faxafloi, this morning with only a little wind and little swell. We had an amazing sunrise and were all doused in golden light on our outward sail. After about an hour of sailing we spotted 3 blows! We got a little closer and deduced that these blows belonged to 3 different humpback whales! They were all travelling together and would come up in unison through out the tour, often coming very close to the boat. What a magical morning! After a bit they were even lunge-feeding so we got a nice look at their faces. After a few more fluke dives we started our return journey and went back to Reykjavik.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed out into a still very sunny bay. Already on the way out we saw 3-5 harbour porpoises, that were even bow-riding! This is a very rare behaviour to see on porpoises so was very special for us to see. From the morning we had high expectations and after about 40min of sailing we started spotting a few blows. One was from a minke whale that popped up on our right side and surfaced a few times before moving on. As this individual was not particularly interested in us we decided to head on further into the bay. We spotted a tricky humpback whale. This one did not seem too interested in us, so once more we continued on. Then we spotted 2 white beaked dolphins, these on the other hand were very curious and were bow-riding along side us for a bit. Eventually they too headed on and we found a friendly humpback whale. This one came super close and we could hear and see the blows in the low sunlight. We stayed together a little while, but eventually had to start making our way back to harbour.
