Tour 17:00

We started this tour by visiting the Puffin island Akurey. There were not so many Puffins on the island but nice surprise, we saw one Grey Seal, sticking its head out of the water, looking at us. Then, after sailing for sometime one of our passengers spotted a black dorsal fin. And it was a nice group of White-beaked dolphins. We stayed with them for a while and at one point they came quite close. Then we headed further out. Very close to a flock of feeding birds we spotted a Minke Whale. It took us some time to get close to this one and we followed it for a while. Another whale surfaced 300 meters away and this whale was in much better whale watching mood, and came quite close to us. We could even smell it. Suddenly there were two Minke Whales surfacing side by side. Amazing. So VERY NICE TOUR

The sea was calm and the sun was out. Hardly a cloud in the sky but it was a bit hazy which reduced the visibility of the peninsulas. We started the tour by visiting the Puffin Island Akurey and saw many Puffins. We headed out offshore and came to an area where there were a few flocks of feeding seabirds. These indicate a lot of fish which also attract the whales. There were quite a few Minke Whales in this area and we watched a least 3 or 4 throughout the duration of the tour, staying with each one for a while. One individual surfaced twice only 30 meters from our vessel. Amazing encounter!!  On the way home we had a brief glimpse at a pod of Harbour Porpoises but as soon as we stopped our vessel they disappeared.  Once again a nice tour in Faxaflói.

Tour at 9:00

In beautiful weather conditions we headed out to Faxaflói bay, calm sea but a little bit misty. We had to sail quite far out before we found the first cetacean. Then we saw a group of Harbour porpoises and a big group it was, about 10-15 animals. Very nice. Then the captain saw in his good binocular a flock of feeding birds and very close to them two Minke Whales. It was a fantastic area, We spotted 3-4 Minke Whales and two of them came very close to the boat, surfacing slowly so all our passengers could have a good look at the animals. Very nice tour ;).
