Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 & 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. Masks are mandatory in areas where keeping 1 meter distance from others is not possible.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning a bit of snow felt on our heads in the harbour but once we left it was quite sunny. If the wind was very cold it was not strong. There was absolutely no white caps giving us a good visibility but a high swell was making the boat rocky. We explored different areas in the bay but we did not find any cetacean. There was not many birds so maybe the fish was out of the bay this morning. The cetaceans often following the fish, it might explain why we could not find them. During the way back the landscape near Reykjavik was really majestic under the sun. We gave complimentary tickets to our passengers to give them the possibility to come back for free in the next two years, in Reykjavik or in Akureyri.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We had another real Icelandic winter experience during our tour this afternoon. On our way into the bay we encountered some high swell and sailed through a foggy area, snow blowing into our faces. However, after a few minutes the fog cleared up and our captain sailed the boat so that we felt minimal impact from the waves. We explored a few areas and although we were accompanied by many curious northern fulmars gliding close to our passengers, we didn't find any whales or dolphins. We therefore offered everyone a complimentary ticket and we look forward to going on another tour where we will hopefully be lucky enough to see the marine mammals of Faxaflói.
