Report from Elding: Going out from the Keflavik harbour we went straight to the area where we encountered a minke whale on the morning tour. Even though we had strong winds and hail our passengers still seemed to enjoy the ride. We searched for a while, spotted one blow and a variety of different species of birds traveling together, but unfortunately the whale did not appear again. Together with the whale watching boat Andrea we scanned the one location for another minke whale that seemed to be in area, until we had to travel back to the harbour. On our way we had several northern gannets and fulmars flying beside us. Since we had no close encounters with any of the animals we were hoping to spot we offered our passengers complimentary tickets, valid for two years.

Report from Elding: This morning we started our whale watching tour in Hafnafjörður due to the better wind- conditions in this area. We had a rough ride while we were going upwards the Reykjanes peninsula, but still optimistic to spot cetaceans. Close to the end of the peninsula we saw a blow. After waiting and scanning the surface patiently we saw one minke whale come up three times until it went went for a dive and vanished again. We searched a while longer, without any luck, until we had to head back. Since the wind picked up we finished our tour at the Keflavik harbour. Because of the short and only encounter we offered our passengers a complimentary ticket, valid for 2 years.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Due to unfavorable sea conditions out in the bay we decided to depart from Hafnafjörður harbour where it is more sheltered and comfortable. From here we sailed along the Reykjanes peninsula searching for some whales. While the passengers could have a taste of the Icelandic wind and cloudy sky, we could benefit from a calm sea and merciful temperatures. On our way towards Keflavik, we encountered a variety of seabirds, including puffins, northern gannets, black-backed seagulls and arctic terns. Finally, we came across a lonely minke whale that seemed to swim in the direction of Keflavik. We were able to take a few close peeks of the animal while we were doing our best to follow it. It was taking long dives and we had to be very patient. Unfortunately we ran out of time and had to head back to Hafnafjörður. We remained vigilant in our smooth way back but nothing more was to be spotted. Because only few passengers could take a good look at the minke whale, everybody received complimentary tickets before the end of the trip.
