Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: out we went from Reykjavik again, for a rather long tour as we fancied looking for the humpback whale that was seen on Saturday and it would be a long sailing. After about an hour's journey we came across a smaller group of white-beaked dolphins (4-5) which was neither as good or large as the ones we had seen this morning but they still saved our tour and as usual were a delight to watch. Once we left them, we went west out to Garðskagi Peninsula in search of a whale but did not see any but the dolphins saw to that we could return back content.

Report from Hafsúlan: after yesterday's storm, we figured the swell would be some so we decided to go out from Hafnarfjörður, which would allow for a smoother journey. On we went and found there to be considerable yet bearable swell but there was virtually no visibility and even snowy for the first part of the tour. Nothing special was seen apart from large groups of seabirds from time to time and 2 harbour porpoises two or three times. We had been through some prospective areas without any luck and were on our way back to harbour, having decided to end the tour in Reykjavik, when we suddenly spotted splashes in a distance. This had to be dolphins and it was! Yes, around 10 white-beaked dolphins it was. We thought they might be hard to approach as when we saw them they were traveling at a fast rate of knots but when we got closer it was almost as if they understood what we wanted so they stopped and went for what seemed to be a jolly lunch break, approaching the vessel time and time again, either to chase after fish or to inspect our curious-looking passengers while the black-legged kittiwakes flew above them in the hope of getting some of their fish! The best dolphins in a while - simple!
