Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was very much the same on this tour, rocky seas and a cold but crisp wintry air. Everyone made use of our free overalls we provide on board which kept everyone nice and warm. We sailed out to the area we were this morning and got word from another whale watching boat about a Minke Whale a passenger on their boat saw. Once there we waiting for a little while before one was spotted. It surfaced many times and twice 5-10 meters from the boat. It was a little bit difficult to follow but we did for a while until it dove down and vanished. We went looking for Dolphins then and saw a small pod of 3-4 White-beaked Dolphins but they had absolutely no interest in us and they vanished as quickly as they appeared. Difficult afternoon in choppy seas but its seems to be calming down tomorrow and sea´s a lot calmer.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out in beautiful sunshine but very cold winds. The sea was a little rough and a few green faces showed themselves by the end of the tour. After about 40 minutes of sailing we saw splashes made by a pod of White-beaked Dolphins splashing around chasing fish, we watched them for a few minutes as they leaped this way then that and then dived down and disappeared. We then sailed for a little bit longer and found a flock of feeding gannets, we waited and waited for the whales to show up, we nearly left the area but then suddenly about 3 Minke Whales showed up, even got to see their very pointed snout as they rose it high above the waters surface. It was incredible to watch the minkes surfacing as the gannets plunged around them. A very eventful morning in the bay :)
