Report from Eldey: This morning we set sail and could finally see the other sides of the peninsula again! Rain was meant to come in the afternoon but for now we were dry. We left the harbor and after about an hour of sailing we saw some dorsal fins in the distance - white beaked dolphins! This was a curious pod of about 7 dolphins, swimming very closely to the boat. We enjoyed each others company for a few moments and then left. We quickly saw more dolphins but this was just a few individuals passing by. After some more sailing we saw three minke whales. These are very elusive and quick but we managed to see it a few times quite close! The rain eventually found us but we stayed in good spirits. On the way back to Reykjavik we were greeted again by a pod of 4 jumping white beaked dolphins. Another pod of 4 also surprised us on our left hand side so it was tricky to say whether it was 2 small pods or one larger but spread apart pod.

Report from Eldey: We left the harbour on this moody afternoon with a beautiful view of the landscape that we couldnt see yesterday. For a moment I thought we would be caught in the rain again but it was only for a few minutes. After about 40min of sailing I spotted some dorsal fins and we went to investigate. It was 6 white beaked dolphins! This pod was staying under quite long and not really interested in us but I spotted more in the distance towards Akranes so we went there. This pod was much more active and came close to the boat. Suddenly - big splashes right next to us! The dolphins were jumping completely out of the water multiple times! I had never seen this so close to us and and so clearly and was completely mind blown. We shared a few magical moments before deciding to head onwards further into the bay. As we did we found some minke whales! There were two infront of us, and then again - two more dolphins! These ones were bow riding and swam incredibly close to us. We must have seen 18 dolphins - what a fantastic day.
