Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan. It wasn´t long, 20 minutes maybe, when we found our first cetacean. A Minke Whale! Few passengers saw it and well done to those who did as it was fast surfacing and surfaced only a couple of times before diving down and disappearing into the depth of Faxaflói. After another 20-30 minutes during the time it was snowing, it was sunny when at the harbour, passengers spotted something, we slowed down and another Minke Whale showed itself. Again difficult to show the passengers as the swell covered a lot of the body. We carried on and after 20 minutes more two Humpback Whales just appeared at our 4 o´clock less than 100m from us. They traveled together for a while and one lovely individual showed it´s fluke (almost pure white underneath) many times. They separated after a while and did one lob tail each and again showing their flukes when going for a deep dive. Very nice Humpbacks today.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The swell was predicted to be quite high today so we decided to sail close to the mountains to the north in calmer seas. The swell wasn´t as bad as predicted though even though there were a few green faces by the end of the tour. It took us over an hour to find our first whale, a Humpback. Perfect animal surfacing close and showing its fluke on many occasion when going on a deep dive. We enjoyed our encounter for a while before heading home and a passenger spotted another on the way. Two Humpback Whales by the end of the tour. It took us a while but got there in the end.
