Report from Eldey:The wind had calmed even more and the sea conditions were close to perfection. The thick cloud coverage casted gray color on the sea making spotting effortless. The tour began with sightings of active harbour porpoises. These small and cute cetaceans were found all over the bay! We must have seen at least 50 porpoises close to the boat. 7 minke whales were seen within 300 meters of the boat, many more were spotted at a greater distance. The high peak of the tour was definitely the two humpback whales which we found further North. One of them was lunge feeding again and again right next to the boat! We could easily hear it´s breath when it surfaced. Every detail in it´s upper body was easily visible to us because how close it was, the hair follicles and blow holes on it´s head, and even the baleen in it´s mouth! What an incredible end to a tour packed with sightings, I cant wait to be back on the water tomorrow!

Report from Eldey: The sky was covered in clouds but the sea was calm on this morning as we sailed out. With the wind on our back it looked like what it is to become a great spotting day. Soon after we left it started to rain lightly and stayed for the majority of our tour. But as we know that cetaceans do not care about the weather we were really optimistic as being really lucky already for the last few days. So it did not take too long until we spotted a whale surfacing at distance. Upon approaching we saw a humpback whale blow! Unfortunately we could just see its blow for a couple of times until it disappeared. In the meantime we saw some harbour porpoises, some of them even coming in for a bow ride. It was really great show of them as we kept seeing them for most of our tour. After some time looking out for the humpback, we spotted some minke whales at a distance, so we decided to move over. In total we could count 4 minkes around us, giving us some really close look to take great pictures. Still some harbour porpoises joined in, probably we saw in total around 40-50 individuals. Still we were not done for the day as we saw a pot of white-beaked dolphins, probably 7-10 individuals, who where feeding not far away. It was a truly fantastic tour as we could see all of the 4 most common species in Faxafloi!

Bird species seen on today's tours include: Northern gannet, northern fulmar, black-legged kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, greater black-backed gull, black headed gull, atlantic puffin, common guillemot, razorbill, great skua and eider duck.
We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is some wind and swells out on Faxabay so if you are sensitive to motion sickness we do have seasickness tablets free of charge at the ticket office. All our boats have inside and outside areas and to make the tour even more comfortable we provide warm overalls.
