Tour 17:00

An excellent tour out in Faxaflói bay. We sailed to the Puffins first. On Akurey still few Puffins were there. Out in the bay we had instead a marvellous tour. We had first a few Minke whales moving around, their blows were visible also since it was a bit windier than this morning and then all of a sudden we saw a large splash quite far out and it was  a young Minke whale breaching! It was breaching so many times, jumping out of the water with the all body, turning in the air and entering on its belly! Fantastic!

Tour 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan:  Another very good tour out at sea. We still had Puffins on the island and then had very good sightings out in the bay. Still a lot of Minke whales, feeding and some of them were lunge feeding and we could see them not too far from us.

Report from Elding: Again we headed out with beautiful weather and a nice calm sea. We started at the puffin island where a few puffins were flying around, along with some other sea birds. We then sailed out to the whale watching grounds and again found several Minke whales, even 2 together at one point! There were a lot of Gannets out on the bay this afternoon, none this morning. Another really nice trip today :)

Tour 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was a very nice day. Sun was shining and the flat was sea. We sailed to Akurey first were still a few Puffins were there. Then we sailed out to the whales. We had a lot of Minke whales, feeding and interacting while feeding with a lot of seabirds. Mainly gannets, manx and gulls.

Report from Elding: We began the trip out on Faxaflói where we found several groups of feeding birds. Around the birds there were many Minke whales around, some quite easy to approach but others a little more tricky. We saw lots of feeding Minke whales but usually from a distance. We ended the trip by going to the puffin island. It’s the end of the puffin season now but still a few puffins on the island and also out on the bay.
