Tour at 9:00 and 13:00: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The weather and sea conditions reminded us of the summer. Smooth and almost warm. We sailed towards the area where we had sightings this morning. It did not take us long until we spotted a powerful blow of a humpback whale! It was swimming for a long time calmly showing us repeatedly it´s dorsal fin. As it stayed most of the time really close to the water surface. Because of the smooth sea conditions we could see it´s entire body under water! It´s slow and predictable movements made photographing it easy. After a while with the humpback we sailed further out and quickly spotted a pod of 9-10 white-beaked dolphins including a few energetic calves. Continuing our journey we found more dolphins, this time jumping and breaching out of the water, clearly wishing 2 of our passengers a happy birthday. Again we must have seen at least 30 dolphins in total on this tour. They stayed some time with us until it was about time to go back. It was a really beautiful and calm day out on the bay!

Tour at 9:00

Report from Eldey: Even though the sky was completely covered with dark clouds and the sea was gray, we left the harbor in high spirits and a good mood. Our enthusiasm was not in vain. A lone humpback whale was spotted by our captain very shortly after exiting the harbor, leaving me just enough time to explain the so called "clock system". It was the same baleen whale that we saw yesterday, with the same busy behavior; staying on the surface just enough for us to be amazed by it's presence. Finally we decided to leave it in peace and continued our trip. Very soon after we spotted a group of about 30 white-beaked dolphins spread in a wide area and obviously very interested in our boat. After wonderful displays of agility and speed, jumping and bow-riding, we parted our ways with these beautiful memories in our minds.
