Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We went out from Hafnafjörður on the afternoon tour to get shelter from the swell and the wind. The sailing was alright during the first half of the tour when we traveled with the wind. We search along the coastline but didn't´t find any cetaceans. On the way back we faced the wind and the power of the North Atlantic ocean with some big swells and occasional sprays of water on the deck. We saw several species of seabirds on the tour, but unfortunately no whales or dolphins. We of course offered all of our passengers complimentary tickets, valid on a whale watching tour with us within two years.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Elding: We went out from Reykjavík this morning and the weather looked promising in the beginning, but when we headed further out in Faxaflói we soon faced stronger winds and some wells. After about half an hour of sailing the guide saw one harbour porpoise traveling infront of the boat, sadly it was very elusive and only surfaced once so no one else got the chance of seeing this small cetacean. During the tour we encountered some seabirds, puffins and manx shearwater were nice species to see. No larger cetaceans were seen so we offered all passengers complimentary tickets. The tickets are valid for a whale watching tour with us within two years.

Bird species seen during the tours: northern gannets, northern fulmars, Manx shearwater, puffins, razorbills, kittiwakes, Icelandic gull, lesser black-backed gulls, glaucous gull and common guillemot.
