CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out straight into the wind coming out past the islands close to Reykjavik and then Grotta. There was a little bit of swell but less than there has been in the past week. We decided to head straight to the area that has been a hotspot recently. There seems to be a lot of food here with many different species being spotted here. After about 80 minutes of travelling we spotted our first blows. The humpback whales are still here! At first we saw one, then realised we had 2-3 around us. We got to see 2 of them surface a lot with them regularly showing their dorsal fin before arching their backs. They appeared to be feeding. We also saw 1 harbour porpoise surface quickly in this area. This species spend almost all their time feeding which can make them hard to spot. On our journey back to Reykjavik we saw 1 seal too. It was a great tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1300

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed in the direction of Hafnarfjordur in the search of the whales again. In the start of our journey we saw 2 harbour porpoises just outside of the harbour. Such a good beginning increased our hopes of seeing more marine animals. When we arrived to Hafnarfjordur were greeted by 3 humpback whales and one of them passed really close to the boat looking at us with these big eyes. There were a lot of bird activity as well, and they were helping us find the whales. After some time watching these beautiful beasts we had to return to Reykjavik after a very good whale watching trip.
