CLASSIC TOUR ON SCHEDULE |  13:00

Report from Elding: The sun was getting more and more present during this afternoon tour. It was really pleasant especially during the way back with the wind in our back. We went towards the same area near Akranes where we saw nice whales this morning. I was showing a flock of birds to the passengers when a minke whale surfaced just next to it! We tried to see it again but the only thing that we found was 2-3 elusive white beaked dolphins. We continued to our main area and looked for the whales. We had to be a bit patient but we finally saw a blow. We approached and could see a beautiful humpback whale fluke diving. It was challenging to follow so we moved a bit in the area until we found a nice feeding humpback whale that was very easy to observe. We could follow it for a while even seeing its white pectoral fin through the water.  We went back to Reykjavik happy, observing the beautiful birds in the sun.

PREMIUM TOUR ON SCHEDULE |  10:00

Report from Þruma RIB: The day could not be more perfect, some of the calmest seas we have had all week, a little breeze from the NNW but nothing to spoil our whale watching adventure. We were lucky today to find a lot of feeding birds out into the bay and in one of these flocks a humpback whale lunged out of the water, surprising the crew and a few of the passengers that got to see the spectacular encounter. It was nice that this individual was further into the bay and so we didn´t have to travel too long before we got our first encounter. The wildlife in the bay seems to be growing, we just hope the weather will stay nice for us to enjoy it.

CLASSIC TOUR ON SCHEDULE |  09:00

Report from Elding: The sea was really flat in the bay today, at least until we got far away out, then it was a bit choppy. The wind from the north was cold but not strong, and the cloud layer was getting thinner and thinner during the tour. We first saw a minke whale but like they sometimes do, it didn’t surface anymore around the boat. We continued until we saw a blow. We were approaching when we realized there were actually 2 simultaneous blows coming up, so 2 whales synchronized in their surfacing. We approached very curious to see that but the animals were not showing themselves anymore. We wanted to stay and search for longer but a whale was breaching further away and we were attracted by it. We went to see this very active humpback whale and when we arrived it was pectoral slapping a bit before showing us a beautiful fluke dive. The cetacean was not showing up anymore when we saw closer to Reykjavik another whale breaching! We approached and if the humpback whale stopped breaching it was pectoral slapping loudly on the surface. Before we had to go it finally showed us a jump from closer! Fantastic tour.
