Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We left the Reykjavik harbour sailing through strong eastern winds. The sky was a bit moody and the weather quite changeable between mostly light or strong rain. So we drove into what would be a great extreme whale watching experience! At the beginning of the trip an illusive harbour porpoise was sighted. Later on we passed through many groups of marine bird species, such as kittywakes, fulmars and gannets. Some puffins were also flying really close to the boat. At some point a minke whale was spotted, quickly surfacing and then going for a deep dive right away. Later on another minke (probably two!) was sighted and this time we were able to fallow the animal for a while as the whale was traveling and eventually resurfaced really close to the boat, guaranteeing a trip to remember! We acompained the animal for few more moments and then, as the time of the trip was already extended, we started heading back to Reykjavik.

Bird species seen on today's tour include: manx shearwater, arctic skua, northern gannet, arctic tern, Atlantic puffin, northern fulmar, eider duck, black-legged kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull.
