Report from Eldey: Sunglasses and sunscreen was a must on this afternoon tour. What a wonderful tour, sun was shining, seas were calm and the wildlife was enjoying the sunshine too. On the way offshore we had a variety of seabirds to enjoy but it took us a while to find our first cetaceans, a minke whale that our deckhand/guide Rodrigo spotted and a few passengers saw the blow of. As it was spotted at least a kilometer away it took us a while to get closer and soon found it was a small, maybe young minke whale that surfaced far at first and then suddenly surfaced just about 20m from our bow. We followed and watched the minke for about 30 minutes as it took 6-8 minute dives inbetween surfaces. Once we left another individual suddenly popped up just 30m from our bow, a larger minke whale. Excellent! on our way back to port another minke whale was spotted in the distance believed to be a 3rd individual and close to harbour a pod of 3-5 harbour porpoises, surfaced lowly and one individual just logged at the surface a short time. A great afternoon tour.

Report from Eldey: What a lovely Saturday we have had. It seemed that spring really arrived (finally!) to Iceland. We sailed towards an area in where we were successful previous days. We saw a lot of activity out there and we came across with a small pod of 3 harbour porpoises and 2 white-beaked dolphins. All the signs were telling us that Faxafloi was full of life but it seemed that they were rather elusive with us, for that reason we offered complimentary tickets to our passengers, hoping to see more next time.

Birds seen during our tours: eider duck, northern fulmar, northern gannet, great cormorant, european shag, razorbill, common guillemot, iceland gull, great black-backed gull.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today, there is always some movement out on the boat and if you are prone to getting seasick, we do have seasickness tablets free of charge.
