Tour at 20:30

Report from Elding: The sea was almost completely flat. Although it didn't rain or blow tonight, it felt dark and cold on the bay. The thick cloud coverege dropped closer to the surface and totally blocked our view of the surroundings. It became very foggy out on the bay, this reduced our searching area a lot and we hoped the fog would lift so we could more easily find animals. Soon we received an important call from another vessel, they had seen a humpback whale. We went over and got a fantastic look at this animal. I was so relaxed and showed itself so well, we stayed with it until the very end of the tour. On the way back we enjoyed life music by our talented musician!

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The swell we experienced earlier today was practically gone by the time we left the harbour, making the ride smooth and pleasant. We briefly spotted 3-4 harbour porpoises on our way out, as well as an elusive minke whale. After having sailed for about an hour, we had our second encounter with a minke whale, who this time, surfaced several times around the boat, a few times less than 100 meters away from us. We lost sight of the minke after it went for a deeper dive, but saw another one just a few minutes later, soon joined by another, smaller individual. It was an incredible sight and a beautiful day out on the water!

Tour at 14:00

Report from Hafúlan: It's like we are pretty much used to no sun at all over here. This tour was no exception. We were so lucky on this trip to run into huge flocks of birds feeding on sand eel aggregations. And in the midst of this feeding frenzy, 4 white beaked dolphins, 4-5 minke whales and 7-8 harbour porpoises as a tour total. We had some nice close sightings with the timid minke whales, as they surfaced all around our boat. Even though the rain together with the wind, were making us test our limits, we still managed to have a nice time in the bay with all of this life exploding around us.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: For the tour this afternoon we had rather calm sea conditions and some light rain. It took us some time to get to an area were a humpback was seen breaching earlier during the day. Instead of the humpback a minke whale crossed our path. We saw it surfacing a few times, but then it was suddenly gone. While circeling the area we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by flocks of feeding seabirds and at least 5 more minke whales! Unfortunately the animals were rather elusive, only surfacing once or twice. A pod of 5-7 harbour porpoises was also seen shortly and all of a sudden we also had different pods of white-beaked dolphins surfacing on both sides of the boat, in total about 10-12 individuals. They were probably feeding, as there was a lot of acitivity in the whole area and the dolphins kept changing directions constantly. Still, we were able to enjoy some very exciting minutes with these amazing animals.

Tour 10:00

Report from Hafsúlan: On this tour it was necessary to keep reminding ourselves that it is, in fact a summer day. Overcast, windy and rainy. Despite the weather we had an amazing experience on sea. We started the tour by spotting some fast harbor porpoises. After that we found some minke whales. On the whole duration of the trip we saw 6-7 minke whales. But the star of today’s tour was definitely a humpback whale. We were approaching the area were we knew a humpback was seen, and it payed of. The humpback whale started breaching 150 meters away from us, and it did it twice, so everybody had the chance to see it. Even though we got drenched by the rain, it was completely worth it too see the humpback being so acrobatic. A rainy, but amazing experience!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: South-Eastern wind and moderate swell made for a pleasant exploring of the bay this morning. When we turning against the wind we could see it was blowing strongly, but not too cold. We encountered a total of 3 minke whales that proved to be tricky to follow, but a little bit of perseverance allowed us to see one surface feeding in front the boat. On the way back, despite the rain we sighted a pod of about 10 harbour porpoises that stayed around for a solid 2 min, which is quite impressive for these shy animals! So we found the animals this morning but somehow we wished our passengers had an easier encounter with the minkes, so we issued complimentary tickets to anyone willing to give it another shot.
