Status : RUNNING

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: Sailing conditions were much better this evening, as there was no wind and sea surface was very calm. It was still overcast and at the end of the tour we had quite a lot of rain, but with protection of our suits it was still nice to be outside. We went directly to the spots where whales were seen on previous tours. This time it takes us bit longer but we succeed! We got to see a humpback whale. First we spotted a big blow and later we got closer to the animal. In one moment humpback came out of the water with it´s mouth wide open - impressive behaviour of lunge feeding. We spent with this whale some time before heading to look for more. We seen many interesting sea birds like gannets, puffins and manx shearwaters. Even if we had to struggle with rain at the end, it was amazing wildlife experience.

Report from Eldey: This whale watching trip was favored with light southeastern winds. The sea was quite flat and the trip was quite enjoyable. And it would only get better as this would become an incredible experience! Not far from the port, a humpback whale was spotted and we were able to campaign the animal for a while and at some point it actually got quite close to to our boat. Later on we found a few harbour porpoises surfacing a few times. As another humpback was spotted we also came to realize that a Minke whale was hanging around the area and we had a quick glimpse of the latter as well. Finally, closer to end of our journey we spotted our first humpback  whale again. We are able to confirm this since we recognized the fluke pattern of this individual that we always try to photograph! Along the trip a few bird species were also sighted such as puffins, artic terns, fulmars and northern gannets. Once back onshore everybody was quite happy after this awesome trip!

Tour at 09:00

Despite the rain that had no intention of stopping any time soon we sailed out bravely not caring about the the weather conditions. Very soon after getting out of the harbour, our first officer spotted the first minke whale of the day. since this one was not very photogenic, we sailed further and found another one that we had a few very close encounters with. The action didn't stop there, as immediately after that we saw a blow from a humpback whale not so far in the distance. The humpback whale was jumping out of the water, lunge feeding, barrel rolling and overall was very relaxed and stayed close around the boat to the delight of everyone on board. Other then the humpback, we also saw 4 minke whales in total, which made this tour very enjoyable despite the gloomy weather.
