Tour at 13:00

We headed straight out to the area where we were this morning hoping to see the same as this morning but on the way we came upon a small pod of White-beaked Dolphins which weren't that interested in us so we stayed a couple of minutes then left them alone. I think the Minkes were full and tired from this mornings antics but there were still a couple around but it was about an hour later before we got a really good look and again we had maybe 5-6 Minces surfacing all around us. I think the highlight of this tour was the Harbour Porpoises which were really playful jumping out the water and surfacing within 5-10 meters of the boat and they seemed to always be around. One Porpoise even surfaced at the same time as and only 2-3 meters from a Minke Whale. Have to say that this tour was not as good as this morning but still a lot of fun.

Tour at 09:00

Perfect day to go whale watching. Sun was out and the sea was calm. It took us about 40 minutes before we saw our first, second, third, forth etc.. Minke Whales. At first we saw a blow (looks like a cloud of stream rising for the surface as the whale exhales) then suddenly we were surrounded by Minkes (we reckon at least 20, maybe more) surfacing everywhere engorging themselves on the plentiful food in the area. They were coming right out the water ventrel pleats (grooves on the underside of the whale allowing expansion of the mouth) extended, rolling, fast surfacing. There were many birds too also indulging on the amount of food about. FANTASTIC TOUR!!
