Tour at 1 pm: RUNNING FROM ANOTHER HARBOUR!

Due to unfavorable conditions out of Reykjavík Harbour we will be sailing out from HAFNARFJÖRDUR Harbour today at 1 pm. A bus will be ready and waiting for passengers at our ticket office in the Old Harbour in Reykjavík and drive off to HAFNARFJÖRDUR at the scheduled departure time. This will result in a slightly longer tour or around 4 - 5 hrs, and may therefor impact COMBO tours. Due to swells there will be movement on the boat. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact our ticket office at elding@elding.is or +354 519 5000.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: We had quite the ride this afternoon ! Conditions were not looking promising out in the bay, so we departed from Hafnafjordur to enjoy a smooth sailing. It was a wise choice as we were exploring the sea with the wind and the waves on our back. And the temperatures reached a steamy 9°C, so our cosy overalls were mostly need to protect ourselves from an occasional light rain. But mid-tour a twist happened, as we heard about cetaceans from other whale watching vessels. When we reached the area of interest and began to search around, we had to a wander and turn around among tall waves, rocking the two keels frenetically. It was quite a show to see everyone on board fighting the swell bravely and holding on for their dear balance ! It proved rather challenging for few minutes, but the captain maneuvered the boat to the best of his abilities to get us back in a calmer pace. The rest of the trip remained relatively serene, except for few scarce shaking there and there. Overall nothing much to say about this tour, some passengers spotted on two occasions few white-beaked dolphins, but probably too busy chasing after fish, they never showed up properly to us. Mostly what the passengers had today was sightings of many razorbills and narration about cetaceans, far from enough so we handed over complimentary tickets, eager to take back our passengers with us for hopefully a more successful tour.
