Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: This afternoon was glorious. We only go out once a day in the dead of winter as there is not enough light, so we sailed out with a hint of sunrise. The ocean was completely calm and there was barely any wind. Shortly after leaving the harbour we saw 4 harbour porpoises. They were swimming parallel to us on their quest for lunch but quickly vanished. Not long after that we got further out into the bay and saw a big blow. But also lots of little ones! Now that the sun is so low, its much easier to spot the blows of the dolphins! As we got closer we saw 2 humpback whales that were surrounded by 8 white beaked dolphins. The humpback whales did a few peduncle throws and the dolphins were doing mini-jumps. We watched on in awe and even the whales were watching us, as we saw one spy hop! After a while we decided to head further out into the bay to see what else was out there. Not even 5 minutes of sailing later there were 10 more dolphins ahead of us. In between them, there lurked something bigger as well. Another humpback whale! Scratch that - two more humpback whales! This group was much calmer than the previous one we encountered but still equally as magical. As all good things must come to an end, we ran out of time and headed back to harbour. On our way back we saw 9 more dolphins, some in the distance, some very close.
