Report from Eldey: In the initial plan, we were to leave from Hafnafjordur, face the swell for a little while then turn and have a nice circle around before heading back to the same harbour, with the waves and the wind on our back for a more comfortable ride. We did leave from Hafnafjordur but quickly the plan changed. We were contacted to be told that a humpback whale was seen right out of the harbour of Keflavik! We decided to give it a shot without hesitation and faced the choppy ocean for about 50 minutes before finally reaching the area. We eventually spotted the blow of the humpback whale in the distance, which got our hopes skyrocketting. Cruelly, the whales only surfaced there and there, after long deep dives, and always out of reach. This individual was clearly not in the whale watching mood! With a broken heart, we offered complimentary tickets to our guest.

Report from Eldey: Our trips for today were departuring from a different harbour, in this case we chose Hafnafjordur for our starting point because the seastate was better in that area. As soon as we sailed out of the harbour, we got a first hand experience of what vikings must have felt when they arrived to this island in the first time: brave seas that were shaking us from our morning sleepiness. But we got rewarded with incredible views of Reykjaness peninsula, mount kellir and blue lagoon. The sun rose in a breathtaking why in between the clouds, illluminating several patches of land and giving  us the opportunity to catch incredible pictures. Bird activity was high and we could see in number one of our biggest and most well-known bird, the northern gannet. Nonetheless, we were unlucky with cetacean and due to the lack of marine life we decided to give our passengers complimentary tickets so they can take a second chance to see cetaceans in Faxafloi or Akureyri.

Birds seen during our tour: Eider duck, raven, northern fulmar, iceland gull, glaucous gull, black-legged kittiwake, northern gannet, great cormorant, european shag, razorbill.
