Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: For the afternoon tour the wind had died down, but was unfortunately replaced by light rain after we had left the harbour. But after only about 30 minutes of sailing we saw our first pod of Harbour Porpoises. As we sailed further we kept finding new pods (at least 5 pods of 2-5 animals in total), some of which were very close to the boat and gave us a nice look at their little bodies. The 2-3 Minke Whales this afternoon were still quite elusive and fast-moving. But one of them dove right under out boat and gave the passengers on both sides nice looks as it surfaced next to the boat. Even though we spotted a couple more blows as we started to head back to Reykjavík, we did not get close enough to the animals to get a good look. But as the wind had calmed down we had a fairly calm sail back to the harbour.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: When we headed out into the bay this morning we were lucky enough to have the wind in our back. Therefore, it was fairly smooth sailing as we were searching for whales among the waves. We encountered multiple groups of Harbour Porpoises throughout the tour, but most of them were fairly elusive and tended to disappear as we got closer. We did manage to spot at least 2-3 different Minke Whales, but similar to the porpoises before them they seemed quite busy under water. Their quick changes in direction and long dives made it quite difficult for most passengers to get a good look at these animals. After waving goodbye to the last minke we took a nice rollercoaster ride back to the harbour.
