Tour at 13:00

The wind had increased a bit from the morning tour and it was raining/snowing more. Just as on the morning tour we spotted harbour porpoises quite close to land and they were again very nice and surfacing quite close to the boat. We continued on and started spotting minke whales once we got further out. They were though quite difficult to observe, only surfacing once or twice at a time before a dive. Many times we spotted the minke whales like that, often with a lot of help from our passengers. After quite some time and scanning a large are in the hope to find a minke whale in a better "whale watching mood" we spotted a nice pod of white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins were great to observe, surfacing many times close and all around the to the boat. Close by that area we spotted yet again a minke whale but just like the others this one only surfaced two times. When we were almost back to the harbour we spotted again a pod of white-beaked dolphins which were also nice. The dolphins were really the stars of this tour and rewarded us for our patience and persistence to find something of an interest :)

Tour at 9:00

We sailed out in good conditions this morning; calm sea, almost no wind but raining a bit. We hadn't gone very far out when we saw the first signs of a whale. It only surfaced two times and we didn't get a very good look at it. Soon after we spotted harbour porpoises and they were very nice, surfacing around the boat many times and very close. We still decided to head out further to see the bigger animals and for sure that was a good decision. We spotted minke whale(s) and even though we only saw one surfacing at a time we believe there were few in the area. We got a fairly good view of the minkes and even saw few harbour porpoises in the area too. So all in all this was a very successful tour.

Birds seen on the tours: Gannets, puffins, guillemots, razorbills, fulmars, black-backed gulls, kittiwakes, and the great and the arctic skuas.
