Tour at 17:00

We headed straight out and it got a bit more rougher out at the bay. We looked for Whales and saw many Puffins when we saw a blow far away and headed in the direction but we couldn´t find the whale. So we headed on and found another blow and suddenly a Minke Whale just right in front of the boat. We tried to stay with it but we lost it again in the waves. We headed on and tried to find another one. When we were on our way back to the harbour we spotted a Basking Shark. We were able to get a bit closer and stayed with it for a while. We were able to see the dorsal fin and also a part of the fluke. When it went down to dive we headed on and visited the Puffin Island Akurey.

Tour at 14:00

This tour was a little more challenging than the morning tour. When we sailed out the fog had lifted but the wind had picked up instead. The searching conditions were therefore a little bit more difficult and we started the tour by looking for a very long time without finding anything! At one time we spotted a few Harbour Porpoises but they disappeared rather quickly. Then after sailing for a long time again we finally saw a Minke Whale coming up to the surface. By then we were in an area with a lot of feeding gannets and birds and in the end we could see about 3 different individuals of Minke Whales, one of them, a calf, coming extremely close to us and rolling in the surface in front of us. We therefore ended up with some great sightings but it took a little patience to get there. On the way back we stopped by the Puffin Island Akurey and found only a few puffins at home unfortunately. A challenging but still a successful tour.

We first stopped at the Puffin Island Lundey and watched the Puffins flying around the island. After this nice visit we headed on out into the bay. It got a bit windy so there were many white caps on the ocean. We searched for the whales but we didn’t spot one. So we gave our passengers a Complimentary ticket to come again. We saw many birds out at the bay like Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gannets, Arctic Terns and Arctic Skuas.

Tour at 10:00

We sailed out in foggy but calm weather and started the tour in Akurey, the Puffin Island. There were not many puffins on the island this morning. Then we sailed out to Faxaflói and in about 30 minutes we spotted some black backs quite close, White Beaked Dolphins! They were great to watch, came so close we could even see them under the water. Then a little further we spotted a group of Harbour Porpoises and they came also really close and we could see them very well, which is not very common for the porpoises. Then a little later we spotted a Minke Whale and soon had three Minkes very close to us. We shut down the engine and enjoyed the moment, with completely flat sea, Feeding Gannets all around us and the Minkes coming up really close, listening to them breathe. A wonderful tour!

Tour at 09:00

We headed out in really foggy weather this morning. The view wasn´t the greatest. We stopped first at the Puffin Island Akurey. Many Puffins were flying above the island and some were sitting at the side on the water surface. After this stop we headed out into the bay and started looking for whales. It was quite difficult because we could only see till 50 meters. But finally we got lucky and found a really nice Minke Whale. A quite small one. In the same area we spotted another Minke Whale and many feeding birds. The sea was really calm and the atmosphere was really nice. We stayed as long as we could with the Minke Whales and when we went back we spotted another Minke Whale and some White beaked Dolphins. A group off about 5 to 6 animals. A really nice tour all in all!
