Report from Elding: A fantastic day came to a fantastic end. With the skys still being dry and enjoying the last sunny spells we headed out once more into Faxafloi Bay. And not just the weather, but also the 'whale gods' were on our side again. It took us less than 40 minutes for our first encounter with one humpback whale. The individual was lunge feeding at the water surface and came super close to the boat a few times. After about 30 minutes we decided to leave the animal alone and continue our lookout for other marine life in the bay. And we found that pretty soon near Akranes: one pod of white-beaked dolphins. We counted between 8-10 individuals which were spread out, feeding and socializing. What a joy it was to watch them and to take that memory back to the harbor with us.

Report from Elding: What a wonderful afternoon we have had in Faxafloi. Perfectly flats seas, great visibility and it was even warm!! A rarity in Iceland. We wondered around this beautiful bay to discover 4 humpback whales which we met in different occasions. They got very close to us and we could see the hugenormous tails when they were going for deeper dives. It was a pleasure to be surrounded by these gentle giants. As a plus, in our way back a minke whale decided to pop up few times in front of our boat. What a great day!

Report from Elding: With the sun in our faces and only a few clouds in the sky, the weather was very promising this morning. And it shouldn't take us long to find our first humpback whale. After only 45 minutes the first individual was showing itself to us, lunge feeding just under the water surface and coming up close to the boat a few times. After two more boats arrived at the scene we continued our journey to a second humpback, which was in the area and also showed feeding behaviour. We stayed with it until it fluked us goodbye and we sailed back towards Reykjavik. Just before getting back into the harbour 2 white-beaked dolphins appeared a few times infront of the boat before disappearing again. Overall we had an incredible morning and can only hope for ournluck to continue through the day.
