✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Finally, nice to see some blue sky today on our whale watching tour. The weather was good but near the end of the tour the weather turned to overcast skies, snowing and blustery winds. The sea was rough today and got rougher as the tour went on but we had some true vikings on the tour and most enjoyed the ride and very few green faces. All in all every one had a lot of fun. We had some very active, playful white-beaked dolphins, scattered pods of at least 20 individuals if not more. They played around the boat then looked to be feeding, chasing after their lunch then feeding again and so nice to see them close to land. After enjoying them we went looking for Mr/Mrs humpback whale, near to island of Lundey it was there, an area with so many birds, feeding and flying around. So much fish in close, which is perfect as the waters were rough today. We followed the humpback whale for about 30 minutes as it was heading offshore, short dives so we saw it many times. The weather was then starting to turn so a great time to head home and get a warm hot chocolate at the onboard bar.

Birds seen today include: eider ducks, northern gannets, northern fulmars, black-headed gulls, glaucous gulls, iceland gulls, red-throated divers, greater-black backed gulls, common guillemots, black guillemots.

We are running our whale watching tour at 13:00 today, from the old harbour in Reykjavík. The winds are strong so we can expect the sea to be quite rough. We do have complimentary sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. For more information contact our office by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000
