Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: Our morning tour was a real Viking experience. We faced fierce winds coming from the southeast but the sea wasn't that rough for our tough spirits. As we were sailing, we came across with a big flock of northern gannets actively feeding, we took a look as we knew that feeding seabirds is almost a guarantee success when whale watching but we weren't lucky this time. We carried on to discover an spontaneous minke whale which was feeding as she was changing direction constantly. While waiting for this conspicuous cetacean a pair of harbour porpoises jumped out of the water very close to us. Despite seeing some cetaceans, we knew that the quality of the sightings wasn't enough for our brave passengers (who resisted the stormy weather with courage and a smile in the face, nature can be brutal sometimes!) and we decided to hand out complimentary tickets so everybody can repeat once more time and discover the wonders of Faxafloi.

Birds seen during our tour: eider duck, northern fulmar, common guillemot, black guillemot, northern gannet, great black-backed gull, black-legged kittiwake, black-headed gull, european cormorant.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There will be some movement out on the bay today, and the wind is suppose to increase as the day goes on, we do have sea sickness tablets free of charge at the office. It is also quite cold today so be sure to make use of our complimentary warm overalls on the tour. We have not yet decided on the afternoon tour.  For more information please contact our office by email at elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000
