CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:OO

Report from Eldey: After the rain the sun came out, and with the sun two beautiful rainbows came out that were the omen of a spectacular tour. In the distance a breath could be seen, after searching and searching we did not find any cetacean. But suddenly one, two, three minke whales surrounded us! Not far away another great blow could be seen, it was a humpback whale. It emerged several times and we were able to admire its presence but when we saw that other boats were arriving we decided to go and look for the first whale that we had sighted and yes! there it was! it was a beautiful humpback whale. Shouts of admiration from our passengers could be heard as it appeared a few meters from the ship. We admired it for a long time, and while we waited for it to emerge again, harbor porpoises appeared on the scene, they were a total of about 5 individuals. Likewise, 3 white-beaked dolphins also appeared. A tour with the 4 species that we usually see the most, whale bingo!

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from RIB : If it was raining on Reykjavik this morning, on the bay there was only a few drops. It was choppy but we could still drive at fast speed into the waves. The wind coming from the south pushed a few waves on our passengers during the way back but they were well protected in our overalls. We first saw a minke whale that appeared not far from us. They were hard to follow but we could see 3 minke whales in total. We also saw a few blows here and there so we believe there was at least 3 humpback whales. We chose to follow one and saw it surfacing many times. There was also a pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins that looked interested about the humpback. They quickly dove and disappeared. The humpback whale was probably feeding first and then just resting, coming very often to the surface and not coming for long dives. We stayed with it for a while and came back to Reykjavik, having a look on the city and on Harpa before stepping foot on the deck.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from RIB : The wind picked up a bit between the tours and in the end of this afternoon tour the weather was getting worst and worst with much more swell than in the morning. We went out and quickly had a first encounter. A humpback whale that was probably feeding, having dives of almost 10 minutes. It was not easy to stay close to it but we could see it fluke diving a few times. Once the animal showed us acrobatic behaviour with a peduncle slap before going for a long dive again. After a while without seeing it we decided that it might be better to keep going and try to find something else. Only a few minutes later we found a second humpback whale that was also difficult to track. We saw it a couple of time with one nice fluke dive and we went back against the swell. We got a bit wet but it was fun to be in the icelandic roller coasters. We arrived under the rain wet and happy after a little ride to see the city from the sea.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The wind calmed down since the previous trip, and we were mostly sailing over pretty flat seas during this tour while feeling some typical Icelandic rain. Far in the distance a blow could be seen. It was a huge HUMPBACK WHALE! It was surely swimming looking for food. There were many birds around that area and we could even see some schooling fish through the water. On the previous tour we could see that the bay was full of food, so we kept looking and we found 2 minke whales. One of them made a circle around us. These animals are very curious and intelligent. Shortly after, another humpback whale emerged. In this case, this animal showed apneas of about 8 minutes, it swam very calmly and had a very small and curious dorsal fin, so while we waited to see it again we enjoyed the views of Faxaflói Bay and the snowy peninsula of Snæfellsnes, that now in the afternoon looked very beautiful. A beautiful tour to remember.
