Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was a difficult day, many of the roads where closed due to the WOW tour of Reykjavik, cycling event. However all the passengers found their way. It was strong northerly winds out in the bay, however, for the first hour we got a lot of shelter from the mountains and the sea conditions were good. We could then surf the swell to the area we were yesterday. The wind and waves started to get higher, many passengers loving the experience but some didn't and the crew helped them down. Northern gannets were plunging into the ocean and so we were optimistic. It took us a while but suddenly a blow was seen, 2-3 minutes later a black back and another 2-3 mintues a black black once more, a minke whale surfaced from the depths. A lot of the passengers saw it but it was difficult to keep the boat steady and time was running out. Even though passengers saw the minke we decided to give complimentary tickets in the hope thay can try again in better weather with more whales.

Birds seen on today's tour: northern gannets, northern fulmars, common guillemots, atlantic puffin, juvenile seagulls (not sure of the species), great cormorant, kittiwakes.

Status Tour 9:00:  RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik this morning. The sea conditions are quite rough so if you are sensitive to motion sickness, we do provide sea sickness tablets in our ticket office as well as on board. Hope you are able to join us on our search for these magnificent animals in their natural environment!
