Report from Elding: Moving out of the harbour we left behind us a really good weather, clear sky and warm temperatures but as soon as we left the protection of the port we found out that it wasn´t going to be an easy afternoon. The wind was increasing and we tried to get close to the coast to get some protection, but we were as brave as Vikings and we went directly in the middle of Faxafloi to spot any cetaceans. We reached the point where we saw a minke whale early in the morning but we didn´t succeeded to spot it again. Nonetheless, in the moment we expected the less, two white-beaked dolphins appeared in front of us. We tried to follow them but they were quite elusive so we continued our trip in other direction. After a while of search, we couldn't´t find any more cetaceans so we decided to come back. However, we offered complementary tickets to our passenger so they can enjoy a second chance with us.

Report from Hafsulan: Heading out, we head wonderful weather with sunshine and almost no clouds. Winds were quite strong from the North, but we sailed fairly close to the mainland on the side of Mt Esja to have some cover on our way out. During this tour we had no sightings of any cetaceans until our way back. One of the passengers pointed out the back of a whale, which later turned out to be a minke whale as we turned around. Most of the passengers saw one surface ahead of the boat. This was really nice and you could even see a ´rainblow´, however the minke did not show up again and we had to make our way back. Just before we came back into the harbour, we saw one, maybe two white-beaked dolphins, however they also were very elusive and most passengers did not see them at all. Despite poor sighting success, the weather was really good and the trip through the Faxabay was enjoyable

Report from Elding: Despite the wonderful sunshine, it was quite windy when we left port and there were plenty of white caps on the waves. We headed straight for Akranes to get some shelter and had a wonderful view of Hvalfjordur on our way. After turning away from the wind, the journey was considerably smoother, with the risk of someone falling overboard minimised! After a couple of hours of searching we were fortunate enough to see a minke whale breaching in the distanc.! The splashes coming from its body as it crashed into the water were spectacular. Unfortunately we didn´t get to spend very long with the whale as it was time to leave and as this was our only sighting of the tour we gave complimentary tickets.

Report from Hafsulan : Looks like the nice weather and sea conditions we've enjoyed the past days have ended. A fast 12-14 m/s was blowing, and definitely didn't help us in the hard task of spotting some cetaceans in the bay. Either way we challenged the weather and we adventured ourselves in the bay. The birds were flying all around, so the food for them and whales and dolphins is more than guaranteed. At some point we spotted two harbour porpoises diving underneath the waves. We got to see also a glimpse of 2 minke whales, the body of the animal and the blows caused by them. It was only a glimpse though, so we came back almost empty handed. But our passengers got some complementary tickets to come back again with us and try better luck with  the whales and the waves!
