CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: That northerly wind today did not let up, keeping us nice and chilly despite the warm sun. As we normally do in a strong northerly we left along the northern coast of the bay with the intention to turn into the middle of bay to travel with the wind and waves, unless we find any animals. Sadly however, despite many northern gannets diving and northern fulmers soaring we still could not find any whales or dolphins. That was until we were about to turn back, we managed to spot 2 white beaked dolphins in the distance, heading parallel to our journey home, therefore we turned and sought to follow them. After disappearing into the sun glare and making us very nervous however we suddenly saw these two dolphins fully leaping out of the water for us and travelling incredibly quickly in our direction. Stopping the boat to see them these dolphins came right up to us, giving us a good look before ducking under the boat and going to say hi to the other whale watching boat in the area. Sadly despite us never managing to get a really good look at these animals we did run out of time and had to leave them, resulting in us deciding on this being a complimentary tour before arriving back in Reykjavik.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was with some northernly winds that we started our sail off the harbour. We first started our sail by the coast before heading inside the bay to try to avoid a bit of the swell. After some time we managed to spot 2 white beaked dolphins in the  waves, but those dolphins were quite tricky to watch. They were quite elusive, changing a lot direction not allowing us to have a proper look. We continued our sail and spotted one individual minke whale that made its appearance for one surfacing by the boat before it disappeared again. A few green faces were seen among the passengers, but it was warned from the beginning the sea qould be a bit rougher than ususal today and sea sickness tablets were recommended. After that we did not spot any thing more in the bay, and given the elusive nature of the animals during this tour we offered complimentary tickets to our passengers to give them the chance to come back and enjoy the wildlife in the bay in better conditions.
