Tour at 1300

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind had picked up a bit as we left the harbour this afternoon. We had almost a full boat so we were very eager to find some great whales. And as soon as we reached the area where we had seen the dolphins this morning, we were surrounded! White-beaked dolphins, minke whales and harbour porpoises surfacing all around us. Among them was Humpy, a minke whale with a deformed dorsal fin that has been coming into Faxaflói since at least 2011. All in all there were around 20 - 30 dolphins, two minke whales and 10 - 15 harbour porpoises. Splendid tour on a beautiful autumn day!

Tour at 0900

Report from Hafsúlan: We left from Hafnarfjörður this morning as the weather had been quite rough for the past days. It was a rather calm and warm morning as we headed out onto the bay. And we didn't have to look for long until we found the first white-beaked dolphins. There were lots of them but they were spread over a large area. We spent a lot of time with them, watching them breach playfully out of the water. We decided to try our luck with bigger species but could not find any minke whales. On the way back we saw some more dolphins and we ended the tour in Reykjavík.
