Report from Eldey: Wohooo hold on to the railings everyone! Although the waves were really no problem today, winds were so strong, standing facing the wind was a workout in itself. But the sun peeked through every now and again, there was no rain and only many white-capped short waves making it a very smooth ride considering the weather. These conditions of course make it more difficult to spot for whales, as their blow disappears very quickly with the wind and splashes are hard to differentiate from waves. Still, our experience helped us to spot not one, but two humpback whales past the lighthouse Grótta. They surfaced frequently thanks to all the fish on the sea surface. Over an hour they came within meters of our boat. We watched them, listened to their exhaling and all that while amidst nearly a hundred sea birds gliding in the air currents. Nature is so wonderful.

Report from Eldey: Strong wind was still blowing making this ride a fun adventure. Just like in the morning we found a humpback whale in exactly same spot, few miles away from the shore. It fact whale found us as it just came up in front of us while we were searching around. This time we didn't got to see many times it's tail but whale was cruising on our side, surfacing with a power when was breaking the waves and moving his muscle body against wind. It was just a spectacular view! Few times whale was coming close to us and we could see all his body through the water while sun was shining. Bird watchers also had fun as northern fulmars were catching wind in their wings above our heads and few great skuas just came back after winter.

Birds seen on today's tours: northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-backed gull, herring gull, brent goose, eider duck, great skua, atlantic puffin, black guillemot
