Report from Elding: The clouds were covering the sky, but the sea was extremely calm and the breeze was especially pleasant. The relaxing environment could be felt all around the boat as soon as we left the harbour. The visibility was amazing, no white caps on the sea surface, and the clouds covering the sun glare, increasing the chances to spot marine mammals from really far away.  Half an hour after leaving Reykjavik, a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins decided to appear on the left side of the boat, heading our course. Soon, more pods of these dolphins started to appear everywhere! A total of 7 pods, some travelling calmly, others feeding and the rest of them just socializing and playing with the waves. Some of them decided to visit us before choosing a new direction out of our sight. We decided to continue and, a few minutes afterwards, a dark shape appeared on the right side of the boat this time. A minke whale super close to the boat! It went for a deep dive and a few minutes later, it decided to surface just in front of us. Such a beautiful moment! We were able to see some more minke whales around the boat further out, a total of 5. After a while, all of them disappeared; probably, they chose to surfaced somewhere else. Soft music was filling the way back to the harbour after such a wonderful day.

Report from Eldey: It's always of course,  that each guide has a subjective idea about each tour and a hunch feeling of it's outcome. For some reason for this tour I didn't believe it will run that smoothly as the rest of the tours during the day. I was wrong. Even though we had the "classical" Icelandic weather i.e overcast, it did not lessen the experience that followed. We first saw jumping white-beaked dolphins in the distance. They were really going at it, leaping completely out of the water in a vertical position. It wasn't the only time we saw them do this on the tour. We saw maybe 3 different groups of them with a combined number of maybe 30 individuals. They were not alone in the area. Other then the myriad of feeding birds, we saw other cetaceans as well. Maybe 12 minke whales in total were popping out in all directions around us. It was hard not to see a whale. At a few times it came really close to us, less then what the length of Eldey is. To top it all off nicely, we saw a humpback whale feeding casually amidst all that commotion. Oh, and I almost forgot, we saw 4 harbour porpoises 20 m from the boat swimming in a more less relaxed manner. What more could you possibly ask for. :)

Report from Hafsulan: I just love this sunshine and calm seas. They put a smile on everyones face even before they step on board, including myself. Topping the already perfect weather and sea conditions with about 15 minke whales in total during this tour just made for one of the best tours. One of the minke whales was an individual we call "Tap" and have known since 2007. It was pretty clear that it recognized our boat too, as it came within hands reach of us for many of its surfaces. Birds were very abundant as well and feeding alongside the minke whales, letting us enjoy the sound of the arctic terns and be stunned by the diving technique of the northern gannet. A spectacular nature show again on this tour.

Report from Eldey: After such a succsesful tour, we decided to head straight towards the same area and try our chances. Soon after we arrived to the spot, we saw a minke whale! This first sighting lead to a series of them, as many of these small rorquals started to pop up all around us. In the end we could observe at least 7 minke whales! Amongst these, a humpback whale joined the party as it came to the surface really close to our vessel! Another great tour with Elding.

Report from Hafsulan: The begining of the day made us felt as we were somewhere else much warmer instead of Iceland. The weather was really warm, the sun was shining strongly and the sea was extremely flat and calm.  Our cheers were really high, specially after an amazing day like yesterday. A soft breeze was refreshing our faces while we were sailing throughout the bay. Approximately after one hour at sea, a black shape accompanied with a small blow appeared in the distance. Once we got to the place slowly, a minke whale decided to surface again and again, each time closer to us. Once there, we started to look around and discovered that, at least, 7 minke whales were around us. That's the magic of the mother nature! Our captain, rightly, decided to shut down the engine and, with no boats around us, we could enjoy the silence of the pure nature; birds singing, the sounds of the ocean and, of course, the blows of the whales were filling these special moments. After a few wonderful minutes with these minke whales, we continued our coarse until we saw a big blow in the distance. One pretty shy humpback whale was behind this big blow! We were able to see it two or three times but it started to perfom really long dives and we reached the time to go back to the harbour. Being able to see our two main big whales in just one trip made the started of the day just perfect!

Report from Eldey: We though a day like yesterday would be hard to bit, but this morning tour made us think twice. It was simply top notch! Apart from the amazing weather that provided a super comfortable ride, our passengers were able to see 3 of the 4 most frequently sighted species in the bay. No body stayed indifferent after observing 2 pods of around 7 to 8 white beaked dolphins, 10 minke whales and 1 humpback whale! Definitely a ride to remember.
