Tour Status: RUNNING

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: A beautiful afternoon was awaiting us as we started our tour. Not even 30 min into the tour a curious minke whale popped up out of nowhere. It stayed around us and came up several times to have a nice look at us from all sides of the boat as we were just staying still looking at it what it was up to. After some time we went on further out to find some more cetaceans and on the way we saw several harbour porpoises splashing all around, probably 10 individuals over all. Towards the end we even encountered a nice pod of white-beaked dolphins, 5-8 individuals, sometimes more curious and then again playing hide and seek. With the sunset on our back we came back enjoying the scenery on this beautiful evening!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: No great patience was need until we found a group of around 10 or 11 white-beaked dolphins. These animals were quite active out there, we could see some white splashes in the distance, as they were jumping and breaching. We stayed for more than enough time for everybody to take all their pictures and recordings. Later on, we spotted 2 minke whales! But these ones were more dodgy.  Even though we were able to watch it re-surface a few times, it was a bit challenging to keep track of as it was going for really long deeper dives. But at some point it popped up really close to us!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: It really seems that the beginning of winter has so much better weather to offer then the entire summer, this could just be a beautiful tour! Sailing over smooth sea we quite quickly saw the shiny reflection on the dorsal fin of some white-beaked dolphins. Upon approaching they seemed to be a bit shy but after some time getting more active around us. Dolphins are always fun to watch, especially as this is a totally natural interaction - no training, no feeding. After some time we went to the fishing area as we could see lots of activity from the seabirds already from great distance. What was awaiting us was just incredible: hundrets of northern gannets plunge-feeding and some more dolphins in between. Finally we also saw the minke whales, 3 individuals being verrrrry busy, so it was a bit difficult to follow them but the gannets and dolphins (a total of 20-25 individuals thruout the tour) were putting up a real show! Fantastic morning!
