Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out today from the old harbour in Reykjavik in good spirits and better weather. We sailed with the wind on the way out with calm seas, perfect conditions for spotting cetaceans. At first we searched the same site as yesterday where we had found the dolphins but had no luck. We sailed on for about an hour and our search was rewarded with a large pod of around 8-10 White-Beaked Dolphins. They were very clearly feeding, swimming fast, constantly changing direction and surfacing all around the boat. We even got an amazing look at them very close to the boat just underneath the surface of the water, swimming in circles and then alongside the boat. After a while these dolphins left, perhaps to look for more food. We continued our search for other cetaceans for a short while but unfourtunately did not find any. It was however a fantastic tour and a lovley sailing back to the harbour with the pink, blue and white evening sky over Akrafjall.

Birds seen on today's tour: Gannet, Glaucous Gull, Iceland Gull, Lesser Black-Backed Gull, Eider Duck.
