CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The day dawned beautiful. The snow-capped mountains of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula were spectacular. The calm sea led us to an unforgettable sea adventure. The first sighting was of a group of white-beaked dolphins, a very fast sighting, the number of animals was undetermined, possibly about 6. The next sighting was not long overdue, and it was a beautiful minke whale. It showed its back repeatedly. In the distance another minke whale could also be seen. After waiting a little longer, we were able to contemplate the whale again, but this time much closer. It appeared so close that we could even hear the pop of its puff when it breathed. What strength and majesty. The relaxed but quick movements of it made us to think that it surely was looking for breakfast. We continued our expedition and found another minke whale, this time smaller. We returned to the harbor with music played by our guests and with wonderful memories marked in our retinas.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from RIB : This morning was colder than yesterday with wind coming from the East. If the swell was around 1 meter, it was a very pleasant sailing because of its length. We went out heading directly far out in the bay. We were not seeing anything and came a bit closer to the land near south and had our only sighting of the day, a minke whale that we could see a couple of times. Unfortunately we could not find it again and some passengers could not see it. We stayed patrolling in the area for a long time seeing some nice birds like razorbills and guillemots but no whale. It started raining and we traveled more south hoping to find cetaceans in a very calm and smooth sea but we were not lucky. We went back home and offered to our passengers complimentary tickets allowing to come back for a free Classic Whale Watching tour aboard the bigger vessels.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The afternoon was serene than the morning with calm sea and very good visibility, so good that we could even see the Snæfellsjökull glaciar-capped volcano. After 40 minutes of searching, with the music of great surprise from our guests, the first cetaceans were finally seen, a group of 5 chubby and beautiful harbour porpoises jumping happily. We continued our tour and suddenly there was an animal surfacing and moving fast. It was a minke whale! After waiting for it and with the cameras ready, again it appeared and showed us its majestic body. After seeing it several times we were left with curiosity, are we the ones who do whale watching or they the ones who do human watching? While we were returning to the harbour we could see a rainbow hugging the Esja mountain. What a beautiful day was painted!

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from RIB : This afternoon the visibility was maybe a bit better than this morning and we had no rain. There was still this very pleasant long swell with almost no white caps. The tour was similar to this morning, if after a long search we could finally encounter a minke whale, the behaviour of the animal made it very difficult to follow and to properly observe. It was still quite enjoyable and beautiful with a nice landscape, interesting birds and a bit of city sightingWe gave a complimentary ticket to our passengers to have the opportunity to come back for a free Classic Whale watching tour. Those tickets allow our passengers to come for a tour on our big vessels in the next two years, in Akureyri or in Reykjavik.
