We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. The sun is shining, the sky is partly clouded and it is raining. It is windy in the harbour and it will be rough out on Faxa Bay.
Tour at 13:00
Report from Eldey: The wind was still strong like in the morning but the waves were softer than in the morning, so the sail out in Faxa Bay was easier going. We were sailing close by the mountains to get some shelter from them and we could see Esja and the whalefjord from very close, beautiful view. We turned before we arrived to Akranes and that was when we spotted a could of white beaked dolphins. They just surface a couple of times and we could not see them again so we decided to keep going. Few minutes later we saw these dolphins again and we stayed around for 20 minutes, they were bowriding and jumping just next to the boat, it was excellent display. The way back to the harbour was against the wind and with a couple of splashes from the waves so we got a bit wet, but it was fun to sail the bay today.

Report from Eldey: As we expected, the sea conditions were very rough today. Winds of 15 m/s and waves of about 2 meters tall made our way out more interesting than normal. Truth to be told, the beginning was not the worst. The way back was a bit rougher because we had to sail back to Reykjavik and the wind was coming from the east. Especially from the whalefjord. It always happens when the wind is coming from the east. Nonetheless, Lárus, our captain today, did a great job! always trying to go with the wind making it smoother for the passengers. After 45 minutes of sailing we encounter a couple of white-beaked dolphins which happened to be very playful at first but elusive at last. I wish the passengers could have seen more of them but hey, this is wildlife. We also tried to find other species but it was not possible this time. Very rough tour.
