Tour at 19:00

Report from Elding: The sea was looking like a mirror with a very romantic sunset as a background. Our tour was tagged with a few very challenging minke whales. The crew spotted the first one no too far from Reykjavik, but it turned out to be very ilisive while going for really long deeper dives. After the first one, at least 3 more fallowed through out our tour and they all makes the crew sweat, as they were quite hard to keep track of. However, our persistency paid of and we got to observe this animals at some point really close to our boat! On our way back all the passabgers were enjoying a great live concert with a smile on their faces.

Report from Eldey: The weather was still amazing for our tour this evening, sunshine and barely any wind. Sea conditions were perfect for spotting cetaceans, as there were no waves. We had barely left the harbour when we had our first sighting of the tour. It was a pod of 10-15 white-beaked dolphins! They were just travelling past our boat at a leisurley pace and they also had at least two calves with them. It was an amazing start of this tour. Only a few moments later we spotted the first 2 minke whales, however, these individuals were only seen by very few passengers. We continued our tour and didn´t have to wait a long time for the next minke whale. This one was surfacing three times, allowing everyone a good look, before vanishing again. The next minke whale was easier to follow and it surfaced repeatedly next to the boat. After spending some enjoyable minutes with this animal, we started heading back, and were surprised by minke whale nr. 5 surfacing just in front of our boat. Another incredible tour with great sightings!

Report from Hafsúlan: Once again we sailed out in Faxaflói Bay in calm sea. We were excited to see what wildlife we could encounter, and it turned out to be incredible minke whales! On the tour we saw 6 minke whales showing us a range of behaviors. It started out with a few elusive individuals, and we had to be very patient to get good sightings of the animals. We continued our search in the bay, and yet again saw a minke whale. We stopped the boat and waited to see the animal again, when it quickly took a turn to a different scenario. Suddenly we had 3-4 minke whales around our boat feeding. One in particularly took our breath away, as it leaped out of the water 15 meters away from us! It was all about minke whales on this tour, and what a great experience!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: In such a perfect day it would be a pity to stay in the city and we were excited to spent more hours out on the sea. Just after 20 min a minke whale came across our path. It surfaced only twice but now we were ready to see more. Another minke was more predictable, same as other one which we got to see up close today. We also had amazing time with pod of white-beaked dolphins, maybe 10 of them in two separate groups swimming fast, splashing around and even few of them came to check us out. On the way back we even made a little bit of city viewing passing by the coast of Reykjavik.

Report from Hafsúlan: Another great day to be at sea. It was a smooth ride with no swell and light winds. Our first encounter was a group of very social white-beaked dolphins. There were at least 5 or 6 individuals out there and we had the incredible experience of observing them mating! It was possible to stay for a while as the animals looked quite chilled at our presence. Later on, after everybody made all their recordings, we decided to leave them in search for something else and we ended up crossing a minke whale! This one was playing hard to get, however we were able fallow it and see it re-surface a few times so that everybody could take a good look at it. As we started heading back towards Reykjavik we spotted another one of the same species as the latter. But this was not being any more cooperative, so we held for a few minutes but then we resumed our cruising tours the harbor, only to realize that we had not one, but 2 minke whales around us as another one popped up just in front of us. Another ride to remember!

Report from Eldey: What a fantastic day for whale watching! The sea was perfectly smooth, the sun was shining and the visibility flawless. With high hopes we sailed out onto the bay. Soon we found a minke whale. It was traveling and in circles but even though it was unpredictable it was easy to follow it because the sea conditions were so good we managed to spot it from a far. Further out we found a pod of 7 white beaked dolphins. They were so playful, jumping and head slapping on the surface. We managed to get a good look at 3 other minke whales later on the tour. It was also so nice to see how many puffins were still around in the bay but the highlight of the bird sightings must have been the two pufflings (puffin chicks) that sat close to the boat! Overall this was an incredible experience, great sightings in such wonderful conditions. We surely made some special memories this morning.
