Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Throughout the day the visibility had increased quite a lot and during the tour we were enjoying more and more sun making it's way through the clouds. At the end we were even sailing under a blue sky. However, the wind and effects of the storm we had during the last couple of day, were still noticeable on the boat so that it felt like a small roller coaster ride here and there. That did not stop us from enjoying the lovely northern fulmars and the gorgeous Icelandic landscape. Overall we had a nice afternoon out, but did not spot any cetaceans. Therefore we gave out complimentary tickets to all our passengers at the end of the tour to come back on another trip with us for free and try again to find some whales, dolphins and porpoises.

Tour at 09:00

It was very nice to get back out on the water again after three days of cancellations. The swell (rolling waves) left over from the strong winds were a little too much for some passengers and there were some green faces. The visibility was a little impaired with the fine rain but it made spotting conditions easier but only about 500m for the boat. This got better later in the tour. We had some wonderful white-beaked dolphins, two different pods, 6-8 individuals in the first and 3-5 dolphins in the second. We were so pleased to see Conor, one of our regulars in the second pod. Always great to see our dolphin friends returning. The birdlife was also quite diverse and a list can be found below. It would have been an awesome tour but the swell did hinder the enjoyment for some of our passengers.

Birds seen on todays tours include; northern fulmars, blue fulmars, black guillemots, eider ducks, long-tailed ducks, northern gannets, shags, kittiwakes, black-headed gulls.
