Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was getting windier and the swells were higher than on the morning tour. We found  a pod of 3-4 white beaked dolphins early on the tour. They were difficult to follow and spent a long time under water. After we lost those dolphins it took us a long time to find other animals. We sailed north and finally spotted splashes ahead. We had come to an area wit a lot of dolphins, at least two pods with about 8-9 individuals each. This time we got a really good look at them, while they jumped out of the water making big splashes. They came towards us and started bow riding. This was a great end on this bumpy and windy tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: This tour started off with a pod of 2-4 harbour porpoises that we encountered after about half an hour of sailing from Reykjavík. They suddenly appeared right in front of us at only 50 m distance and then traveled fast along our side. Even though we only saw them for a short while, hopefully most of our passengers got to see them since they were bringing a large portion of they body out of the water when they headed away from us. We didn't slow down for this small species but kept searching for larger cetaceans further out in the bay. After about 10-15 more minutes we spotted a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins. They were making a lot of splashes as they were racing through the water. It wasn't easy to keep track of them since they changed their direction frequently. However, we still managed to spent some time with them and every now and then they came closer to us and swam underneath out boat. It got a little windier during the tour, but after the rain had stopped we finally had the sun shining upon us, when we encountered the second pod of 3-4 white-beaked dolphins. They were jumping out of the water for a while before they decided to get close to us. Unfortunately, no minkes or humpbacks showed up on this tour but the dolphins were real fun to watch!
