Report from Eldey: We sailed out in smooth seas and sunshine. In these perfect conditions we spotted our first animals within the first 30 minutes of the tour. It was a rather elusive humpback whale, so we decided to not spend a long time with it, instead to see what the ret of the bay could offer. On the way out 2 white beaked dolphins popped up, they swam along side us on the way out. There was a lot of life further out on the bay! Large flocks of birds led the way to four hungry humpback whales. The humpacks fed in two pairs, often lunge feeding sincroced at the surface! This was a fantastic tour out at sea with incredible sightings in summery weather!

Report from Eldey:  It was a lovely morning to spend out at sea. Through the course of the tour we were able to see 3 humpback whales and 5-6 white beaked dolphins. The first 2 humpback whales were most likely foraging. Though we were able to observe them quite well a few times, their diving sequence was a bit unpredictable and they were constantly going for deeper dives, probably trying to find some fish closer to the bottom of the sea. The white beaked dolphins were a bit more curious about our vessel, and approached us a few times before continuing traveling. So everybody got the chance to enjoy these beautiful creatures quite close to our vessel! When everybody thought the tour was over, suddenly a humpback whale appeared just in front of us! We were able to spend a few more minutes with the animal until we saw its beautiful fluke one last time. We waved the whale goodbye as it went for a deeper dive. On our way back to the harbour all our passengers had a cracking smile in their faces. Another great tour with Elding!

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today at 9:00 & 13:00. There could always be some movement out on the bay, so if you are prone to seasickness, we have seasickness tablets free of charge. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000
