Report from Eldey: If you ever wonder how the weather looks like in Iceland, you'll probably listen something like "be prepare for any kind of weather". Well, we can certainly say that after our afternoon's tour it's completely true: we have experimented waves, calm sea, snow, sun, rain, literally everything! It was a roller coaster for our emotions but we did find what we were looking for: wildlife. Not long after leaving behind Grotta, the lighthouse at the very end of Reykjavik's harbor, we got a call about some cetaceans in our surroundings. Without delay, we headed our boat to find an spectacular pods of the most relaxed 6-7 white-beaked dolphins we ever had! They were very calm surfacing close to the boat. We counted among this group a little calf and at least two juveniles, giving us a great moment to understand social structure in dolphin world. After a while, we sailed further out trying to discover the wonders of Faxafloi and we spotted a huge seabirds diversity. Even though few dozens of the rare little auk were seen around the boat. The way back brought us snowflakes, a beautiful rainbow and astonishing sunset in which the horizon seemed to be in flames, a fantastic experience in the bay.

Birds seen during our tour: eider duck, european starling, long-tailed duck, red-breast merganser, great black-backed gull, icelandic gull, glaucous gull, black-headed gull, northern fulmar, common guillemot, little auk, great cormorant, european shag.

We will be sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today at 13:00. There might be some movement in the sea today, so if you are sensitive to sea sickness we do provide tablets for motion sickness both at our ticket office and on board. We hope you will be able to join us today!
